Welcome 2M!
After announcing our new partnership in January with Hatfield and Company, Inc. covering states within the USA, we are now in a position to add 2M — headed by owner, Panos Mitsas - to our line-up for Greece and Bulgaria! Lemar Wright from Pressure Tech Ltd commented: "We are excited to announce 2M as our local reseller for Greece and Bulgaria. Canadian Registration Number Update
Continuing our push into Canada, we now also have a CRN for our brass LF310, LF311, LF540, MF101, MF101D, MF301 and MF301D pressure regulators, plus our 316SS AVO690 and AVC690 actuated valves for the province of Alberta. The Canadian Registration Number (CRN) is a unique number issued by each province or territory in Canada by an authorised authority for any boiler, pressure vessel or fitting that operates at a pressure greater than 1 barg (15 psig). The approval process required our Engineering team to submit full design calculations for all pressure containing parts in accordance with ASME B31.3.

Pressure Tech Exhibits at SIAT 24
Pressure Tech MD, Steven Yorke-Robinson, and Independent Consultant and market expert, Ravindra Vasish are representing Pressure Tech at the Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT) 2024 in Pune, India. We are in a prime spot between a Toyota Mirai and TATA fuel cell bus as part of the ARAI Technology Pavilion (stand 048 - 059), which provides the ideal setting to view how the hydrogen market is coming together in this exciting and dynamic part of the world! Canadian (Ontario) Registration Number
We have now added CRN approval for our LF, MF, RF and BP series pressure regulators in the province of Ontario! The Canadian Registration Number (CRN) is a unique number issued by each province or territory in Canada by an authorised authority for any boiler, pressure vessel or fitting that operates at a pressure greater than 1 barg (15 psig). The approval process required our Engineering team to submit full design calculations for all pressure containing parts in accordance with ASME B31.3. This means we now have CRNs for both Alberta and Ontario!

Latest Investment at Pressure Tech!
At the end of June there was lots of activity in the Pressure Tech Ltd machine shop with the arrival of our latest investment! The first part of the mammoth task was to temporarily move outside three of our existing machines and a bar feed to make a path for our new Doosan SMX 2100 series machine. Once the new machine was in, the original machines were then put back in place and connected up. Why did we opt for the SMX 2100? This machine really packs a punch with tool to tool changes in 1.8 seconds, and chip to chip changes in 7.8 seconds. Tools can be loaded into its carousel even if the machine is still running to reduce downtime between set-ups, and worn tooling can be replaced without having to stop the machine. The key advantage of the SMX is its ability to efficiently handle large batch runs, which is critical for us as we look to match our output inline with our record-breaking order intake. The SMX's barfeed accommodates up to 2.1 meter length bar, with the ability to load 6+ 2.1 meter bar lengths for lights-out operations... which we plan on doing lots of!

Bolted Flange Modular Concept
At the recent Pressure Tech Reseller Conference, our Design Engineer, Martin Jewkes-Yale, hosted a session detailing the advantages of using our new bolted flange concept. Martin explained the concept is based on three standard modular designs to cover up to class 4500, and created to accommodate any of our pressure regulators. Utilising a common bolting feature, design time is significantly reduced by simply changing the flanged end to meet the requirements of standards including ASME 16.5, API, DIN and Grayloc. Removing the requirement for subcontract welding (as required for welded flange connections) also reduces the lead time, whilst it is faster to produce GA drawings and STEP files for customers as the majority of design work has already been completed. Dates and Times for the Christmas Period
Although it seems a little early to be mentioning the 'C' word, we wanted to give you advanced notification of our annual Christmas shutdown and stock-take. Last orders will be despatched on Thursday 22nd December and we close for the Christmas period at 1pm on Friday 23rd December. The team will be back on Tuesday 3rd January 2023 from 8:30am, but we will be conducting our stock-take during the first week back so won't start delivering orders again until Monday 9th January 2023.

DIT Indian Hydrogen Event
The Department for International Trade (DIT) recently hosted a delegation from India, who were visiting the Midlands to discuss opportunities in India for Hydrogen. Around 25 leading Indian companies were in attendance at Keele University, and we were honored to be invited. Our Technical Sales Engineer, Lemar Wright, represented Pressure Tech Ltd at the event with a product overview of our hydrogen range. Thanks to the DIT for inviting us, and we hope everyone in attendance found the whole event really beneficial!

Pressure Tech Visits the Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre
Last week Pressure Tech's H2 Business Development Manager, Jack Samways, and Senior Design Engineer, Karol Wolniewicz, met with senior researchers from the Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre. With state-of-the-art laboratories and specialist equipment, the Centre works collaboratively with local businesses to help them take advantage of commercial opportunities which require product development specifically for the fuel cell market. Over the past few years, Pressure Tech has successfully launched the LW351 regulator for drone and lightweight applications, two-stage LW-TS414 for the Shell Eco Marathon competition, LW438 for material handling applications and, most recently, our EC79 certified AUTO438 for hydrogen powered buses and trucks. We have lots more in the pipeline, so this connection with the team at the Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre is one we are looking forward to developing. Introducing Sam Walland!
For those customers who have not yet spoken to him, we would like to introduce you to our newest Sales Engineer, Sam Walland, who started at Pressure Tech in March 2021. Sam’s experience within the oil and gas industry saw him complete a Sales Engineer apprenticeship whilst studying Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, before progressing on to the role of Instrumentation Sales Engineer where he sold commodity valves. He studied for a Materials Technology certificate at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (part of the University of Sheffield) and then moved on to become an Aftermarket Sales Engineer for a UK valve company. Outside of work, Sam enjoys getting outside with his partner (or ‘better half’, as Sam refers to her!) and walking his German Shepherd. Department for International Trade Case Study
MAINTAINING THE PRESSURE ON SUCCESS IN NORWAY Glossop based Pressure Tech discuss securing major projects in Norway and the ongoing support they receive from the Department for International Trade (DIT). Glossop based Pressure Tech manufactures high-quality ISO-9001 accredited pressure regulators traditionally used in the oil and gas sector on critical high-pressure control systems such as wellhead control panels, gas analyser systems and hyperbaric diving systems. Over the past two or three years their product range has expanded to include pressure regulators for hydrogen fuel cell applications such as passenger and commercial vehicles, drones, bikes, and material handling applications such as forklift trucks. Their customer base is worldwide, supported by a growing global network of Authorised Resellers, with a particularly strong network throughout Europe. For the past two years their Norwegian reseller has been the strongest performing European reseller account, securing some major projects through a combination of product and industry knowledge, network of contacts and customer service. Managing director, Steve Yorke-Robinson explains: "Norway is absolutely a market of interest to us. Several of the world’s leading OEMs for Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs), Intervention Workover Control Systems (IWOCs) and Chemical Injection Systems are located in Norway, and these applications are key targets for our hydraulic pressure regulators in particular. In addition, Norway is a leader in subsea technology, so we expect the demand for our subsea pressure regulators to increase over the coming years and decades." The drive for renewable energy sources is also one that is gathering pace in most European countries, and the company see no reason why Norway would not be part of that. They will be looking to identify further prospects in the hydrogen fuel cell market to continue developing their share of that sector via their expanding H2 product portfolio. Steve has welcomed the support he receives from the Department of International Trade (DIT). "Kathryn Borg, our International Trade Adviser (ITA), has been very supportive and provides regular updates on any export opportunities or support available to increase our export business. Having worked with Kathryn over many years, she understands our products and the markets we are targeting, which allows her to forward any specific areas of interest and make the relevant introductions." The company were keen to see a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in place. "Having a FTA in place with our customers is important for a number of reasons, namely; to allow quicker movement of goods; minimise the amount of administration costs and paperwork, and ultimately to ensure our pricing remains competitive in a globalised market place. With over 30% of our business being within the EU, it is important to Pressure Tech and our customers that a FTA is in place to maintain our growth objectives." Pressure Tech have typically achieved year-on-year sales growth of around 10% and are looking to push beyond this growth in the current financial year. MP Robert Largan Visits Pressure Tech
Last week, it was our pleasure to welcome local Member of Parliament, Robert Largan, to Pressure Tech Ltd to discuss the opportunities and challenges we are encountering following a 50% increase in sales order entry levels this year. We have been located in the High Peak, Robert’s constituency, for 15 years and have expanded into industrial units on the same estate throughout this period. With such rapid growth and major expansion planned over the coming months, I took the opportunity to highlight the difficulties in finding suitable property due to lack of development of industrial facilities in the local area. With a long overdue bypass around Glossop expected to improve traffic congestion in the next 3 years, and house building continuing to develop at a fast rate, the lack of commercial property needs to be addressed to help support local employers with their expansion plans, and to ultimately employ more local residents. I also took the opportunity to tell Robert about our success in the Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell market, with a recent order secured for 2000 pressure regulators being exported to a key customer in the USA.

Pressure Tech Feature in H2 View Magazine

We're Exhibiting at H2 + FC ASIA!
Not long to go now until the start of H2 + FC ASIA! From 23rd to 26th October, our Hydrogen-market specialist, Iulian Maciuca, will be on the Pressure Tech stand (E3-3 in Hall N2) with product samples to show you and technical literature to take away. Whilst we are a regular feature at H2 + FC Europe in Hannover, this is the first time the exhibition has taken place in China so we are looking forward to showcasing our range of Hydrogen fuel cell regulators to new potential customers!

Investment in new CNC machine confirms exceptional ROI
Training was provided to some of our team this week on a new CNC machine installed by Citizen at the start of September. Initial parts made on the machine were made in 2mins 30 secs...a saving of nearly 6 mins over the previous machining process! The £250k investment in a Twin Spindle, Twin Turret CNC machine confirms our intent to maintain short lead times and control more of our production internally within Pressure Tech to ensure our customers receive the best service levels as our business continues to expand.

In the past 12 months, Pressure Tech have developed a 200 gram pressure regulator for use on H2 fuel cell UAV drones and a 200 kilogram flanged back pressure regulator for a desalination plant in the USA, which exemplifies our ability to work closely with our customers and provide exact products to meet their needs. Pressure Tech Installs new ISO8 Clean Room
Pressure Tech is constantly looking at new ways to respond to our customer's high expectations. We have many customers who require specialised services, in particular those who work in the commercial subsea diving sector and medical hyperbaric chambers. These organisations need specific cleaning services to ensure contaminants are avoided and eliminated where equipment is used in oxygen rich environments. As such, Pressure Tech has invested in a four stage solvent degreasing system to ensure parts are cleaned within the guidelines of ASTM G93. The cleaning process and subsequent assembly of products are all performed in our newly installed ISO8 clean room to ensure ultimate cleanliness levels are achieved. As specialists in the production of high quality equipment within the commercial diving sector, we understand the importance of providing a clean room environment, which is certified to a low level of pollutants. Many of our customers require specific cleaning processes for equipment such as valves and regulators, particularly where high levels of Oxygen are present. The understanding of oxygen's reactivity has led to strict regulations regarding the cleanliness of equipment used in an oxygen service. Although Oxygen is not flammable itself, it supports combustion. The higher the oxygen content and/or pressure in a system, the more vigorous the potential combustion, so care must be taken to ensure equipment is free from contaminants such as hydrocarbon oils and greases, which oxidise with the Oxygen and can cause the source of ignition. ASTM G93 is an industry recognised practice that provides a "selection of methods and apparatus for the cleaning of materials and equipment intended for service in oxygen enriched environments". Whilst Trichloroethylene was always recognised as the most effective means of cleaning parts to this standard, the health and environmental issues associated with "Trike" have led to the development on new alternative solvents such as Novec™ 71DE. Parts are cleaned initially by immersing in the 71DE solvent at boiling point before being transferred to a further immersion in an ultrasonic tank and a final drying process in the vapour phase, ensuring all parts are cleaned and dry prior to use on Oxygen service. In addition to cleaning our own parts, Pressure Tech are able to offer a subcontract cleaning service to all our customers who require cleaning of parts for use on Oxygen service. Patented High Flow Regulators Launched
Pressure Tech are pleased to release details of a unique range of high flow pressure regulators that fit within the internal diameter of the pipework and provide excellent pressure reduction control on pipelines over 4" diameter. The patented design involves five components, of which only one is dynamic, and the overall size is typically 50% lighter than other typical pressure regulator designs. The outlet pressure setpoint is controlled by an external pilot regulator which ensures typical droop effects are minimised under high flow conditions. Sizes range from Cv 63 for the 4" and Cv 260 for 8"
